What is graded, and why it matters
Most guide and outfitter websites were built to describe the business. Guests arrive wanting to book one. The grader checks the eight places where that gap costs bookings, from a phone screen that needs pinching to a price that is nowhere on the page.
01Is there a Book button, are prices on the page, and can a guest see which dates are open? A site that answers all three turns a visit into a booking at 11pm without you. One that says 'call for availability' turns it into a voicemail.
02How many clicks from the homepage to a page with a price and a date? Every extra hop loses a share of visitors on a phone. An inquiry form instead of a booking means every lead is a reply you owe.
03A stated deposit, a balance that is collected before the trip, and a cancellation policy a guest reads before paying. Without a deposit, a no-show is free for the guest and a lost day for you.
04Whether guests are told a waiver is part of the trip, and whether they can sign it on a phone before the day instead of on paper at the trailhead. Digital waivers are signed by every guest, not just the one who paid.
05Most traffic to a guide's website is from a phone. The grader checks the viewport tag, responsive styles and readable text sizes, the basics that decide whether a visitor can read your prices without zooming.
06How quickly your server answers, how heavy the homepage is, how many scripts block the first paint and whether images load lazily. Visitors on cellular give up at around three seconds.
07A title and description that fit a search result, one H1, a canonical link, robots.txt and a sitemap, structured data and a share image. These are how search engines and AI assistants read what you offer.
08HTTPS everywhere and no plain-HTTP images or scripts. Browsers label anything else 'Not secure', and card forms will not run on it.
How it works
The grader fetches your homepage and up to five same-site pages that look like booking, trip, rates or waiver pages. It reads the HTML as a search engine would. No login, no scripts run on your site, nothing stored.
Eight categories, each weighted by how much it moves bookings. Online booking and checkout steps count most; security counts least because most sites already have it.
Each finding says what Treka does about it: deposits at checkout, waivers signed on a phone, trip pages with live dates and prices, a sitemap and schema written for you.
FAQ
Yes. There is no account, no card and no limit beyond a few grades per hour per visitor. Treka is the booking and operations platform for guide services and outfitters; the grader shows what a bookable site needs and what Treka does about each gap.
Eight categories: online booking (a Book button, prices and live dates), checkout steps, deposits and payments, waivers, mobile, speed, SEO basics and security. Each check is a pass, a warning or a fail with the reason, and the categories are weighted by how much they move bookings.
No. The grader fetches your pages, scores them and returns the result to your browser. Nothing is saved unless you ask for the report by email, which files your email and the scorecard with our team so we can send it and follow up.
A booking page on someone else's domain carries their branding, loses your analytics and sends your guests somewhere they did not type. Treka keeps booking on your own pages, either with the widget embedded in the site you have or on a site Treka builds for you on your domain.
Every company starts with 30 days of Core, free, no card required. After that Core is $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly, and Pro is $399 a month, or $329 a month billed yearly. A 3% booking fee is added at checkout and paid by the guest; Stripe card processing is billed at cost. No contract.
