How it works

What this calculates

Guide services pay guides in three common ways: a percentage of the trip revenue, a flat day rate per trip, or an amount per guest. Each one behaves differently as the group fills. A percentage scales with the booking, a day rate makes a full boat very profitable and an empty one painful, and a per-guest rate sits in between. Tips are separate from all three and usually go to the guides in full.

The calculator applies the basis you choose to one trip and separates guide pay, tips and the business's margin after direct costs. The effective share line converts whatever basis you use into a percentage of revenue, which is the number to compare across trips and seasons.

How Treka records the split

In Treka a guide is assigned to a trip date, and a payout is recorded against that booking with its split, so the number the calculator gives you is the number the portal carries from assignment to payment. Payouts show their status, method and reference, and guide payout data exports as CSV for 1099s and your accountant.

What to do next

Once the split works on paper, set it up once in the portal and stop recalculating it after every trip. A demo on your own trips takes thirty minutes.

Talk to us

Does Treka pay my guides automatically?

Treka records each guide's payout against the booking and tracks it to paid, with the method and reference. How the money moves is up to you: Stripe payouts, your bank, or cash, all recorded in the same place.

Can different guides have different rates?

Yes. Payouts are recorded per guide and per booking, so a lead guide and an assistant can carry different amounts on the same trip.

Are tips tracked?

Tips can be recorded with the payout so the guide's total for the day is in one place and exports with everything else.

What does Treka cost?

Treka's pricing is public: 30 days of Core free, then Core at $99 a month or $79 a month billed yearly, Pro at $399 a month or $329 a month billed yearly. A 3% booking fee is added at checkout and paid by the guest, and Stripe's card processing (2.9% + 30¢) is billed at cost with no markup.
